After I gave my Blocked Puff Stitch Pocket Shawl and Wave After Wave Pocket Shawl to my daughter and friend, I decided to make another crochet pocket shawl with this beautiful autumn color: rusty brown! Here you can find my new hooded pocket shawl version which is made with the feather stitch: a simple stitch variation of the puff stitch. Combined with front and back post double crochet stitches this shawl has a beautiful texture. Scroll down for my free pattern and step by step video tutorial.

Feather Stitch
The feather stitch in this pattern is made by inserting the hook and pulling up a loop in three different stitches.
First feather stitch row:
Yarn over, insert hook in chain space, pull up loop
Yarn over, insert hook in skipped st below, pull up loop
Yarn over, insert hook in next chain space, pull up loop
Yarn over, pull through all 7 loops
Ch 1
All the other feather stitch rows:
Yarn over, insert hook in chain space, pull up loop
Yarn over, insert hook in chain space below, pull up loop
Yarn over, insert hook in next chain space, pull up loop
Yarn over, pull through all 7 loops
Ch 1
In this post you can find a detailed photo and video tutorial of this stitch. Below you can find my free pattern to make a hooded pocket shawl.
