Like every year pocket shawls have been a big trend. This year it’s a total hype! After many requests I jumped on the bandwagon. Here is my version of the pocket shawl with the blocked puff stitch, one of my favorite stitches. Scroll down for my free pattern and step by step video tutorial of the Pocket Puff Stitch Shawl.
Blocked Puff Stitches
Blocked Puff stitches are a variation of puff stitches and have a more open structure. The abbreviation is usually Bps. Even though it is not a difficult stitch, you might have to practice getting the right tension. On my blog you can find a detailed photo and video tutorial of this stitch. Below you can find my free pattern to make a pocket shawl.

Place a stitch marker in the 20th and 40th stitch in each corner. Fold the end of the shawl to the inside, making sure the stitches are aligned. Remove the stitch marker and place again through both stitches. See photos below.
Make a slip knot and start at a stitch marker in one of the corners. Work row 1 through both stitches (4 loops)
Row 1
ch 2, 1 hdc in same st, 1 hdc in each st across, turn (158)
Make sure you’ll end with an even number. If needed, make an extra hdc in the last st to get 158 stitches.
Row 2 – 10
ch 2, *1 fphdc in next stitch, 1 bphdc in next stitch* repeat across, turn (158)
Repeat row 1 – 10 on the other side of the shawl
Fasten off and weave in ends.

Beautiful how long is it and how wide is it
I’m having trouble making this bigger. 198 isnt a multiple of 12+2. Where am I going wrong?
