If you love the puff stitch, you’ll have to try the blocked puff stitch. This fluffy crochet stitch features puff stitches in the center and is made out of several rows. It creates a beautiful texture and can be used for many projects such as hats, shawls, bags, blankets, potholders… Scroll down for my free photo and video tutorial.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Blocked Puff Stitches<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The abbreviation is usually Bps<\/strong>. Blocked Puff stitches are a variation of puff stitches and have a more open structure. You can also make staggered, stacked, zigzag and braided puff stitch rows. Even though it is not a difficult stitch, you might have to practice getting the right tension. With my photo and video tutorial below you\u2019ll see that it\u2019s a fun and simple stitch. Enjoy, and before you know, you will be an expert!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tutorial: how to make a blocked puff stitch<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Abbreviations:
<\/strong>ch: chain
sc: single crochet
dc: double crochet
ps: puff stitch
bps: blocked puff stitch<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Materials:<\/strong>
\u2013 Katia Seacell Cotton
\u2013 Crochet hook 5mm

Notes:<\/strong>
– turning chains do not count as a stitch
– puff stitches are made by pulling up 5 loops
– this pattern uses a multiple of 12 + 2 chains (for example 14, 26, 38, 50 etc.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pattern<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Start with 26 chains

Row 1 <\/strong>
1 sc in 2nd ch from hook and each ch across, turn (25 total)

Row 2<\/strong>
ch 1, 1 sc in next 3 stitches, *ch 3, skip 3 stitches, dc in next stitch, work a ps<\/strong> around the dc, ch 3, skip 3 stitches, 1 sc in next 5 stitches<\/em>*, ch 3, skip 3 stitches, dc in next stitch, work a ps<\/strong> around the dc, ch 3, skip 3 stitches, 1 sc in last 3 stitches, turn (25 total)

Row 3
<\/strong>ch 1, 1 sc in each stitch and 3 sc in each chain space across, turn (25 total)

Row 4
<\/strong>ch 2, 1 dc in first stitch, work a ps<\/strong> around the dc, *ch 3, skip 3 stitches, 1 sc in next 5 stitches, ch 3, skip 3 stitches, dc in next stitch, work a ps<\/strong> around the dc* repeat across<\/em>, turn (25 total)

Row 5
<\/strong>ch 1, 1 sc in each stitch and 3 sc in each chain space across, turn (25 total)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Simply repeat row 2, 3, 4 and 5 as many times as you want.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
